What is flosm? On flosm can be found maps based upon data of the OpenStreetMap project. OSM is a community, which sets itself the goal to create a free world map. Everyone can help to develop these maps.
Visualizing informationThe OpenStreetMap data contains a lot of information by now. We want to visualize this information in a simple and interactive way. Therefore we are developing different theme maps step-by-step to show the potential of the project. Because new data are added every minute we update our maps once in a week.
We have produced a brand new map containing the administrative boundaries for our planet as far as they are a part of the OSM data. From country level to town districts all categories can be switched as separate layers. You can see where are the wholes in the map in a worldwide view to discover unfinished work in the free world map at a glance. Also postal areas contained, but at this time only show up in Germany.
Information for our POI map will be filled up from time to time with new categories, so stay tuned for new discoveries. At this time you can have a look at over 250 categories.
The tremendous diversity of the actual data is also shown in the power grid map, which contains worlwide power networks, different kind of power plants, stations and substations.
Raster image mapsNearly all maps can be exported via the download button to be used with your favorite word processor and a lot of other software.
Server technologyFor displaying and interaction features in the maps we use a self engineered server system which processes vector maps at very high speeds. We distribute this technology through our company 123map. |
